County of Los Angeles Supervisor, Mark Ridley-Thomas and Earvin "Magic" Johnson helped kick-off Amoroso's new project in South Los Angeles on Saturday, March 9. The renovation Magic Johnson park will bring a brand-new event center, outdoor play areas and much more to the community.
The construction industry is constantly changing with new technologies, more productive systems and the need to engage more employees to keep up with workforce demands. These changes also include a stronger focus on diversifying the industry.
It's not often that young women in high school and college are told to grab a hard hat and consider starting a career in construction, but there are a variety of reasons why that is about to change.
While the industry has seen a rise in women in construction in recent years, as of 2018, they only accounted for 9% of the workforce. In comparison, women make up about 44.7% of the wholesale/retail trade industry and a staggering 74.4% of the education and health services industry.
The City & County of San Francisco awarded Amoroso's Northern California office their new Ambulance Deployment Facility project with construction set to begin this Fall.
LAUSD selected Amoroso's Southern California office to build the Colfax Charter Elementary School Classroom Addition project. Construction is set to begin this month.
