Amoroso is proud to report that the American Society of Civil Engineers, Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch has awarded our recently-completed Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park Revitalization Phase 1A Project the 2021 "Outstanding Sustainable Engineering Project" of the Year designation. Designed by Paul Murdoch Architects, with landscape by AHBE/MIG, the groundbreaking new Event Center with parking lots, play areas and splash pads, lake improvements and other associated site work was designed to the highest degree of sustainability.
The American Public Works Association recognized the Sutro Reservoir Rehabilitation and Seismic Upgrade project as the 2015 Project of the Year in the $5-25M Environment category on February 25, 2015.
Originally completed in 1953, Sutro Reservoir is the third largest reservoir in the City of San Francisco and adjacent to numerous fault lines. Seismic enhancements were required to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of a major earthquake. The construction project included strengthening the reservoir roof and supporting structures, as well as upgrading the existing foundation. In addition to the seismic upgrades, Amoroso was responsible for other structural, mechanical, civil, electrical and security upgrades.
