The American Public Works Association recognized the Sutro Reservoir Rehabilitation and Seismic Upgrade project as the 2015 Project of the Year in the $5-25M Environment category on February 25, 2015.

Originally completed in 1953, Sutro Reservoir is the third largest reservoir in the City of San Francisco and adjacent to numerous fault lines. Seismic enhancements were required to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of a major earthquake. The construction project included strengthening the reservoir roof and supporting structures, as well as upgrading the existing foundation. In addition to the seismic upgrades, Amoroso was responsible for other structural, mechanical, civil, electrical and security upgrades.

"The success of the project is due to the collaborative and proactive approach by S. J. Amoroso and the entire project team. The results can be seen in the equality of construction, adherence to schedule, and commitment to safety while meeting the State's goals for the project… This is the third competitively bid construction project our office has successfully completed with S. J. Amoroso and would highly recommend them." Diane Elliott, Project Director III ~ Department of General Services
