Amoroso is proud to report that the American Society of Civil Engineers, Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch has awarded our recently-completed Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park Revitalization Phase 1A Project the 2021 "Outstanding Sustainable Engineering Project" of the Year designation. Designed by Paul Murdoch Architects, with landscape by AHBE/MIG, the groundbreaking new Event Center with parking lots, half-mile lakeside loop trail, play areas and splash pads, lake improvements and other associated site work was designed to the highest degree of sustainability. Incorporating solar panels to self-sustain and featuring native plants in the extensive landscape work, which require far less water than non-native plants and provide natural filtration of the lake's water, are just some of its many innovative sustainable features. As a result, the park is saving millions of gallons of water per year and the significant improvements to the lake's water quality have invited a new species of bird to nest in the lake's artificial island. The largest park-improvement investment in Los Angeles County's history will provide the residents of Willowbrook a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for years to come.
