The Port of Long Beach is one of the world's busiest seaports (2nd nationally), and a leading gateway for trade between the United States and Asia. It supports over one million domestic jobs and generates billions of dollars in economic activity each year.  The Port has billions of dollars worth of construction upgrades and new facilities underway.  Amoroso is currently constructing two new structures at the Port: a new Maintenance Facility and an Operations & IT Building (NOIT), both of which will be LEED Certified Gold.

Located in heart of the Port of Long Beach, the New Maintenance Facility is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and overlooks the historic "Queen Mary" ocean liner. This project is a two-story state of the art maintenance facility consisting of vehicular and equipment maintenance and storage, offices, and meeting rooms. With a value of $34 million, two one-story canopies for exterior storage and vehicle wash/fuel stations are also included. The project contains an extensive amount of site improvements as the facilities sit on approximately 22 acres.  The Port's current maintenance facility is located in the footprint of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge which is an essential route to and within the Port.  With the bridge project close to ground breaking, the focus on moving the existing maintenance personnel out of the old building and into the new is a top priority.  From the start of construction there has been a dedicated partnering effort to make sure that the project is completed on schedule and the bridge project is not interrupted.

The NOIT building will be the future home of one of the Port's biggest contractors, Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT).  The building is located in what is known as "Middle Harbor Terminal" which is an extremely busy area of the Port.  A number of different contractors are constructing projects ranging from underground utility improvements, marine work, expansion of terminals, and new buildings for the Port's tenants.  Amoroso has been a key player in leading the coordination efforts between all contractors around the Port.

The NOIT project valued at $14 million includes site improvements, a site security system, and the Operations Building.  The building is approximately 32,135 square feet and will have access flooring on the second and third stories.  The building façade is comprised of metal panels and curtain wall systems.  The penthouse will be constructed to serve as a break/lunch area where employees can overlook the scenic views of Middle Harbor.  The building will be the central nerve center that operates the Pier E LBCT automated terminal. It will have three critical functions performed within, which will include:

• Remote operators that control the automated stacking cranes,
• Gate operators that will process 4,000 truckers through the Port,
• Management staff that orchestrates the overall planning and execution of the Pier's activities and constantly monitors the fluidity of the operation.
