The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Los Angeles Division recently awarded Amoroso Construction the $122M project to build the new Community Living Center on the Department of Veteran's Affairs Long Beach campus.
The project will provide a new three-story Community Living Center (CLC) to replace the former Nursing Home. The new three-story, 181,350 sq.-ft. building will provide a residential living complex for veterans. With 10 housing units, each with their own dining room, kitchen, great room and quiet room, the new project will provide 120 beds total. In addition, there will be six staff support zones, therapy and activity spaces, administrative offices, conference areas, social space and general support space.
The facility also includes a partial utility basement and an enclosed pedestrian walkway that connects to the existing building. Site improvements to 15 acres will also be made as a part of the project.
Constructed on the east side of the Medical Campus, work includes general building construction, site preparation, selective demolition, fire suppression, mechanical, electrical, security, and telecommunications.
